My mind in pieces

Working as I do in a school, (I’m a graphic designer producing all the publications, magazines, handbooks etc etc), and with the end of the Spring Term approaching at an alarming rate (where have the weeks gone?), my workload is massive at the moment which is pretty stressful as I have numerous print deadlines coming up and am having to juggle loads of different projects all at once (At last count I have 15 different pieces of print that I am working on, all of which need to be proof read, amended and approved before going to print).

Now, this is nothing too unusual and I’m coping well. Everything will get sent to the printers and will be back in time for a major mailout that gets done during the school holidays.

You might think the holidays will give me a bit of a break from work but sadly no, we admin staff at the school work throughout the holidays, and whilst some of our number do have a much quieter time during the holidays, sadly for me the next few weeks are set to be even busier as I have to begin working on the School Magazine, a 100+ page full colour magazine that goes to not only all the parents and Pupils but is also used a major marketing tool for us, so it has to be really good.

The magazine details all the events of the school year, and as such I have 2 terms worth to begin setting, probably 60 or 70 pages or more and all this needs to be set in a mere 3 weeks!!!  This wouldn’t be too bad but for the fact that the editors want me to do a full overhaul of the design as we go….this is going to be a major job, so I know the next few weeks are going to be even worse that the last few!!!

This is going to be a tiring time!!!
